 Abstract: In a series of three lectures I would like to address some important properties of the character degree graph of a finite group and highlight basic aspects of the relationships linking those properties to the algebraic structure of the group.

A fundamental result in this context is Palfy's Theorem, stating that the independence number of the degree graph of a solvable group is at most two. Along with this, I will expose some recent generalizations of Palfy's Theorem and discuss the existence of comparatively large complete subgraphs of degree graphs.

I will also aim to give an account of a few fundamental technical tools and concepts.

Finally, I will address some of the problem arising in the case of nonsolvable groups.
